To have purpose is the new trend

Have you ever thought about wearing an unique piece and never find another one that is equal? This is one of the proposals of Monarca Collection, that is growing little by little.

In times where the fast fashion industry is taking over with large scale production, low quality fabrics, standardized clothes with a minimum cost to fabricate it, sometimes using slavery, here the work is slow, but with purpose.

Since the creation of the idea, mining, deconstruction, manual work, attempting to search for second hand materials with good quality, the never ending learning… those are some of the stages to create a fashion item. Besides that, at the same time, I bring the proposal to whoever reads or follows me, to rethink their daily actions regarding consumption, trying to keep the world as much sustainable as possible. The challenge is enormous, internally and externally.

Every day I learn a bit with this same idea I bring to you, and that way every day I find something different. One of those findings is that we will never reach perfection. I had to go through a lot on this path for the 100% sustainable, but I see that today, in this moment in time, it is impossible. I heard that from people that work with upcycling for long years.

It is up to me to turn the items as much sustainable as possible, even if I cannot reach the completion of it. And I bring it to our day-to-day, that even if we want to change our actions, we will never be able to reach 100% while the leaders that actually take the decisions don’t act on this direction, while this doesn’t come from up top, while the ruling about using natural resources, destruction of Amazon and other forests, the impacts of fast fashion on the world and unbridled discard of clothing stop being just small talk and start to become actions from big companies and population.

I know that there are plans for the next years or decades, but I am afraid that we no longer have enough time to revert all the bad we are causing to Planet Earth. So, even that our actions are minimal, we must continue doing our little changes daily, being on the way we think, the way we act, share or impact. After all we are all influencers somehow. So, influence who is close to you. Influence yourself.
