Keep calm and be focused like a bird
Since a small kid, one of my favourite activities was to observe the animals. I always wanted to respect them, but sometimes I did not because of the culture I was inserted at.
I clearly remember, on the intervals of the tobacco harvest when I was around 12, during the breakfast, I was used to seat on the ground, eating and observing the ants. They would just run around with the small pieces of my sandwich that would fall, doing their hard and synchronized work, a true teamwork. I have this memory vivid in my mind.
The other day I caught myself watching a squirrel crack open a small branch that he was holding with his paws. Something he was taking off of that. And the origin of this text was this picture I took from a black crowned night heron that I shot in may 2021. For a long time this picture was on my computer wallpaper, to remind me of the focus, the patience and persistence that this bird has to get his food. I was very close to him, but he did not got distracted, he kept his focus on his objective, which was his fishing.
I don't know the outcome of his fishing, because I did not had the same persistence as him to wait for the moment where he would catch something. With this text, I reappear here bringing this reflection, of how much we can learn from the nature, as long we respect it. With focus, patience and persistence, we will reach our objectives, regardless of the distractions along the way.
